ABOUT THE COMPANY:
QSPACE is a platform for research projects by students and professionals working on queerness in the built environment. QSPACE pushes for organized action through exhibitions, publications, digital archiving, and design guidelines.
'As architects, we believe that design can and should play an active role in responding to social change, and as QSPACE, we hope to offer the tools with which to create it.'
QSpace wanted to increase engagement and collaboration with fellow architects through their projects and open-source resources hosted on their site. Qspace needs help with a reiteration of its website. Their website has three primary functions:
Information content around QSPACE.
Downloadable assets for Architects to utilize.
Archived work of other students and architects around gender-neutral bathrooms
QSPACE is a queer architectural research organization currently based at the GSAPP Incubator within NEW INC.
Our sibling organization QSAPP, is based at the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP).

QSPACE was founded in 2016 by Lauren Johnson and Ryan Day shortly after graduation from the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation (GSAPP).
QSPACE pushes for organized action through exhibitions, publications, digital archiving, and design guidelines.
QSPACE makes questions of gender and sexuality visible to a field that has traditionally subverted such questions. In the absence of a centralized voice, QSPACE is a hub for students, professionals, and academics to connect and collaborate.
QSPACE produces research and outputs on topics such as gender inclusive bathroom design, LGBTQ homelessness and housing, and queer histories in architecture.
QSPACE was born out of Queer Students of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation (QSAPP), an LGBTQ group from Columbia University, which will be an ongoing collaborator.
QSPACE is collaborative. Please reach out to us with any ideas for projects, we would love to work with you.
